Retirement Eden
Come & meet Frank, Anne’s resident Tui who sings his heart out daily in Anne’s beautiful, bird haven of a garden.
“Birds are very much part of my garden - wax eyes, finches, thrushes and black birds. They all come to feed, swim or drink.”
Beauty is also a major consideration at Anne’s garden and although tiny, Anne crams in as much as she can, including edibles, masses of gorgeous flowers and several bird feeding stations .
Anne’s garden is a major contributor to the wellbeing of her fellow Bupa retirement village residents, especially those who are in a wheelchair. Anne regularly receives visitors from the care home who are brought up to look at her garden in search of cheer and the good feelings which come from spending time amongst beautiful plants and wildlife.
Meeting Anne is like meeting a force of nature, she will sweep you away with her sense of organisation and clever ideas to make life easier as a gardener. This garden is a great inspiration for the use of small space to bring much needed life to our places and how to do it at any age with time and effort saving ideas. Bees and Butterflies abound!
Please park on the street or at Meadowbank Mall, opposite.
