Riparian Regeneration

Address
Remuera (Meadowbank)

Themes
Wildlife, wellbeing, deep sponge soil

Celebrating the small steep section and our streams, this garden is a mix of tropicals street side  and then regenerating native plantings further down.

The small stream feeds into the Orakei Basin which is home to Pied, Black, and Little Shags, as well as Royal Spoonbills. This garden is doing her bit to help regenerate the waters of our hood.

As the climate changes, rainfall patterns change with less frequent but more intense rainfall. This garden shows how water permeable surfaces and appropriate plant choice can moderate these changes.

But bush doesn’t have to be boring, sculptures and potted plants maintain interest.

Sit and enjoy the quiet, punctuated by birdsong and the buzz of bees. Stroll and enjoy sculptures. Play a game of pétanque.

Plants will be for sale so bring cash!

There is plenty of bike parking, but on street car parking can be limited.

Be prepared for multiple flights of stairs to access, and there are well behaved beehives on the property.

Children are very welcome but as the section is unfenced and has open waterways, so close supervision is necessary.
